Orthopaedic Biomechanics
Our research is driven by the interest in human movements, which is an important aspect of human life as it ensures physical mobility and thus interaction with the environment. Against this background, the aim of our research is to understand the functioning of human movements, i.e. the interplay of the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system, which enables coordinated movement behavior. Of particular interest to us is how medical technologies (e.g. orthoses) need to be designed in order to improve this interplay and thereby physical mobility. To achieve these goals, we work as an interdisciplinary team that connects different strands of research from sports science, medicine and biomechanics within the framework of experimental and computational studies.
