At KIT, we focus on highly interdisciplinary activities in the field of diagnostics and therapy ("theranostics”), We aim to revolutionize molecular diagnostic capabilities by developing new concepts, systems, and technologies that can provide the base for an affordable and robust application in clinics, point-of-care units, and homes, both in developed and developing countries. We develop strategies to overcome the outdated “organ-focused” definition of diseases by in-depth investigation of metabolomic pathways and pathogenic mechanisms to arrive at a molecular mechanism-centered disease description.
